Two Sentence Tuesday #29
Alone on the stage, under the bleary gaze of inebriated eyes, his
fingers plucked the strings as he began a slow, sorrowful lament in the key of F
minor. He found a familiar woman in a green dress, sitting in solitude across
the room, and as the pair made an invisible connection, she understood that the
song was about them.

The sickly green mist
seeped through the cracks in the door, melting the wood as though it were wax. Jesus
Christ, alone, knew what would happen when that caustic whiff of poison filled
someone’s lungs or touched their skin… though I was about to find out,
firsthand.
