Vincent

Vincent

Sinking down to the depths of the dark,
Unending well of screaming madness,
You longed for freedom;
Yearned to bask in the magical nighttime
That forever hung just beyond the reach
Of your straining fingertips.

You ached for the heat
Of the burning, golden starlight
As their transcendental fires shone brightly
Across the infinite ripplingly velvet
Blanket of midnight blue,
But its warmth never reached you
In the growing cold blackness of your
Solitary hell.

You strived; you climbed,
But never touched the luminous sky,
Though with nothing to hold onto,
Down, you inevitably and finally slipped,
Lost to the unrelinquishing abyss
And in your absence,
The wondrous night will eternally burn…
Another star brighter.

Balloon Animals

Balloon Animals

Everywhere I look, I see clowns,
Pale as a January morning,
With wicked crimson smiles
Like a late-night Luciferian Letterman.

I hesitantly guard my soul
As they laugh maniacally around me,
Dancing and jangling with
Sharp, rainbow-colored manes
Bouncing off their shaking shoulders.

I don’t laugh… don’t crack a smile;
I scream and cry in terror,
And when they disappear
In a super-compact clown coupe,
I see my distorted grin in the mirror
And finally understand...

The joke was on me.

Melete

Melete

She, the poet’s enchanting muse,
Inspires his soul and guides his hand.
She paints his world the richest blues,
She, the poet’s enchanting muse.
And those, whose wandering eyes peruse
The poet’s words, will understand,
She, the poet’s enchanting muse
Inspires his soul and guides his hand.

Have You Tried Turning IT Off And On?

Have You Tried Turning IT Off and On?

New technology;
Promising to lead us forth…
Into the brave new future.
Failed technology;
Gleefully sends us crashing…
Back to the barren Stone Age.
