Immortality

Immortality
By Brandon Palzkill

My words,
all too often
unheard.

Not said;
written down to
be read.

Linger
on long after
I’m gone.

Childhood

Childhood
By Brandon Palzkill

Lazy
Hazy
Fizzy
Dizzy
Loafing ‘neath a lazy, hazy sun
Making me some fizzy, dizzy fun

Last Call

Last Call
By Brandon Palzkill

Waiting…

            Waiting…

Ticking seconds become minutes…

Waiting…

            Waiting…

It’s been too long, it needs to stop…

Waiting…

            Waiting…

I’m tired and this day’s dragged on...

Waiting…

            Waiting…

Hurry it up and go away…

Waiting…

            Waiting…

Ten minutes, passed; twenty minutes…

Waiting…

            Waiting…

Knock it the hell off, already…

Waiting…

            Waiting…

About damn time, you rat bastard…

Done waiting…

            Going home.

Snow Days

Snow Days
By Brandon Palzkill

Soupy drizzle
settles on my windshield;
snowing again.

Viva la Revolucion!!!

Viva La Revolucion!!!
By Brandon Palzkill

Type the url,
no access;
lost to the digital ether
behind a wall
of bureaucratic bullshit.
Politicos would drop
a cyber-nuke
to kill a virtual fly,
and throw
our first-amendment
freedom-voices
on a hasty funeral pyre
to memorialize
the death of democracy.

I refuse to let
some political prostitute
throw up their
unconstitutional
no-trespassing signs
in the way of my
virtual walkabout,
as I strike out into
the global village,
a man in search
of abundant knowledge.

E pluribus unum;
one of many angry voices,
crying out
to stop the injustice,
and halt the insanity;
remind them where we are
and refuse to let
our words be silenced.
We, the people,
have the power…
let us make it known.
