Flashing Lights

Lights explode around me…

frantic bursts

of red and white;

imposing; impressing upon;

beckoning me

to stop and take heed.

Signifying danger,

cautioning wariness;

lives hang in the balance

and disaster may abound,

should I fail to acquiesce

to their dire

warnings.

I slow down; stop;

take a moment,

look around;

choose my next move

delicately;

finally to go on ahead,

taking it slow...

sidestepping catastrophe.
