Sorrowful misty fogs swallow
The dreary world beyond my door
As the deluge fiercely
Blows down around us.
Pearly beads clinging tightly
To crusted, gray branches
Bend the beaten limbs down
In a hasty freedom-bid,
Falling with an abrupt splash
Into thick, murky pools below.
I sit by an unfriendly window
And watch their concentric rings;
I watch heavy water ballistics
Pepper the rumbling pane
As a cold, shivering aura
Stirs me through the glass.
I look to the unfriendly skies;
A break in the clouds
Seems a long-forgotten dream,
Yet as the sky bares gloomy teeth,
It intrigues and seduces me...
I simply must go outside.
