This page is dedicated to the trials, tribulations, thoughts, musings, and potentially bad decisions of an aspiring writer... but not really. There will be a lot of writing, though.

Two Sentence Tuesday #42
Kevin deliriously wrote Alicia a Hail Mary of a love letter, penning every
awkward confession he had been too afraid to say aloud. As he read through his
completed missive, shameful stabs of cowardice had pierced Kevin’s heart and he
hastily crumpled the note into a ball before tossing it into the trash.

Walk of Shame
Walk
of Shame
I watch the naked truth lying
Shamefully beside me
Under ripped and ravaged
Linens as the cold light of day
Splinters harshly across my bruised
And claw-marked flesh; a reminder
Of our foggy misadventures.
Smiling, I drop a thick wad of green
Upon the bedside table;
“That was one for the ages…”
I whisper as I unceremoniously
Slink out the door...
Oneiromancy
Oneiromancy
(The Surprise Party)
February’s final days had diminished
And I dreamt apocalyptic dreams
Of hellfire threads weaving infernal
Tapestries throughout perpetually
Unbroken raven-hued clouds.
I wandered without the slightest
Breath of hope as the ground shook
And snuffed away beneath my wary feet,
Cascading into the molten abyss,
From where all life began,
And closing the circle.
Around me, crowds of broken people
Despaired at the unforeseen end;
The lunatics ran rampant through
Arkham,
While the children curled up
On the streets in the pouring rain
And wept for Neverland… forever lost.
Then there I was, awash in shame,
Staring down at bloodied, bone-bare
Knuckles… my badge of rejected honor
After a moment of weakness,
And wondering if we
Deserved this horror in obsidian and fire…
Did we reap what we had sown?
And yet… as flesh melted from my limbs,
The sun broke on a raw
February morning and I found myself
Not standing at the end of all things,
But walking a continuing, sign-less journey
To the middle…
…happy birthday to me.

Regret
Regret
Quiet whispers haunt my restless dreams,
A familiar voice; pained, weeping,
Crying her shaking sorrow into the darkness…
“You should have known better…
You should have done right by me.”
I toss and I turn and I punch my insolent pillow
While no peace finds me there.
I’m staring into the abysmal nighttime mirror,
Lost to the face of the one I’d betrayed.
I broke her heart
More effectively than a bowling ball
Carelessly thrown through a window pane,
And as I see the tearful hate in her eyes,
I know there’s no going back…
I could have been a better man…
I should have been a better me.
The honeyed words she once spoke to me;
The tender sparkle in her smile…
Gone… all gone… in my unforgivable cowardess;
My cruel ploy, reeking of fear and doomed to fail.
What have I really gained… what have I lost…
What have I done?
