This page is dedicated to the trials, tribulations, thoughts, musings, and potentially bad decisions of an aspiring writer... but not really. There will be a lot of writing, though.

Two Sentence Tuesday #48
Tidal waves of boredom slapped Geoff from one side of the room to the
other, as he waited by that infuriating telephone, chanting for it to wake the
hell up. When the silence was broken and Tara’s name finally flickered across
the display, Geoff could have danced, or sang, or ran a marathon, or climbed a
mountain, or done any other Herculean feat the world might toss his way… except
actually pick up the phone.

Two Sentence Tuesday #34
His clock chimed “GO TO SLEEP!”,
as he stared sorrowfully at his computer screen during a fruitless scavenger
hunt for anything resembling a good idea. Spectacularly failing that, he sought meaningful
words of encouragement from his truest friend, Johnnie Walker.

Have You Tried Turning IT Off And On?
Have
You Tried Turning IT Off and On?
New technology;
Promising to lead us forth…
Into the brave new future.
Failed technology;
Gleefully sends us crashing…
Back to the barren Stone Age.

Look at Yourself
Look
at Yourself
I see you… waiting… standing there;
Your hands in your pockets
A vacant stare plastered on your dopy face
Your direction is secondhand;
A garbled game of Telephone
Your compass, demagnetized
And you peer out into the wild
In search of a dotted line in the sand
Hoping it will to lead you to the elusive “X”.
But “X” never marks the spot;
There is no spot… that’s a lie they told you.
You keep on looking
You keep on keeping on
You keep on failing to find any worthwhile thing
And never even realize
That there are far better things to do
Then wait around, hands in your pockets…
Looking like an idiot.
Don’t be that idiot… it cheapens you.

The Future Bytes
The Future Bytes
By Brandon Palzkill
Technology is the future;
hover cars, ray guns,
time machines, warp speed;
science fiction, cradled
in the palms of our hands.
Fantasies soon dissolve.
Reality takes over,
while I stare at the modern
convenience before me,
and see an evening, lost,
inconveniently.
Waiting for my world to process;
doesn’t support my file type.
Flash of blue – bad pool caller,
system not responding;
waiting, still…
Is this the way of the future?
Flawed little Tinker Toys
that seek to frustrate and confuse?
If so, I think I’d like to go
back to the stone age…
happy simplicity.

Traveler's Lament
Traveler’s Lament
By Brandon Palzkill
I travel on, down silent streets
dismayed by everyone I meet,
who slog along and never see
how meaningful their lives could be,
but wallow in their own defeat.
I see their confidence deplete,
while tripping over their own feet,
they look at me, uncertainly;
I travel on.
But I’ve my own trials to beat,
won’t ever let myself retreat,
so while they wander, aimlessly,
and never let themselves be free,
I have a destiny to meet;
I travel on.
