The
Invisible Man
Going through life as a shadow,
Forever alone in the crowd,
The invisible man dared not
Lose himself to naïve hope
In fragile matters of romance.
Yet the universe intervened
And against his better judgment,
The invisible man fell in love,
Roseately offering his lucent
Heart to an entrancing goddess.
Her coffee-hued eyes sparkled
And her bubble gum smile
Left his disused soul shivering
As her sweetly scented words
Softly floated through the air.
But he had miscalculated;
Thought her the person who’d
Finally seen him through the mist,
But he was nothing, to her,
Except a phantom in the room.
The invisible man retreated
Drifting back within the shadows
Hiding again amongst the crowd
Where nobody would see him
And love could never ruin him.
