Moonlight

Moonlight

Glowing ball of pale, blue light
Casts a ghostly corona
Against the inky, velvet curtain,
As I’m enveloped
In the nighttime’s ethereal spark.

My senses come alive, tonight…
I smell the waving barley
Growing in a faraway field;
I hear the hooting owls
A mile from where my boots rest;
I see the tadpoles swimming
At the bottom of the murky pond;
I taste… I taste… blood… in the air.

I’m lost to my infernal damnation,
I’m crazed, convulsing…
My own blood burns by moonlight’s flame,
Tearing at my searing flesh,
Transformation taking over…
Ripping, writhing, howling, growling,
Fangs and claws and matted fur…

I’ve cast my human being aside,
I’m beastly, rabid… ravenous,
And tonight… I’m on the prowl.
