Distractions

Everywhere I look,
something waits that’s tailor-made
to keep me looking, indefinitely.
Shiny, flashy, loud, enticing,
pushing buttons, turning knobs,
colorful images
keeping me enthralled;
I count myself a mindless drone,
lost in their playful seduction.
Other things that need be done,
abandoned by the wayside
of my ever-fluttering
attention span,
and all my humble endeavors
are continually wasted,
as the clever spell takes hold, again,
my night is so complet-
ooh, spiffy… be right back!
